The Elephant Parade

On Sunday the 10th of April, Belgrave Road was lit up by a stunning parade, beginning from the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple on Gypsy Lane, which ended at the end of Belgrave Road.

The inspiration for this event was a combination of celebrating the birth centenary of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, and remembering the late great owner of Leicester City Football Club, Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Around 1,000 people attended as either guests or participants in the dazzling display of two-life sized elephants, with the procession being led by the special guest, Bollywood Star Gulshan Grover, AKA the Bad Man.

The event incorporated religious representations of both the Hindu community and the Buddhist community, as Khun Vichai himself was a Buddhist.
